A #VIPeek at DISH's Summer Menu
Once again, the kind folks at DISH invited me in to sample some of their new summer menu items. Going to DISH always feels like a fun date night, since the lighting and decor in there are just so sexy-festive. From the Ally McBeal bathrooms to the people-watching, DISH is a great spot for a date any night of the week. And the food very seldom disappoints. Here’s what we tried from DISH’s new summer menu.
I can’t partake in cocktail sampling for obvious reasons (food babies), but luckily for everyone, my husband (AKA the Food Bastard) sure can. And sample he did. Yep, I drove his tipsy ass home. He was pretty impressed with all of the cocktails he tried, and this strawberry sour was no exception.
Like cocktails, raw fish is off limits right now. But I really wanted to try the sweet & spicy salmon atop crispy sushi rice pictured above. The Food Bastard was very pleased with this choice off of the new summer menu.
THIS right here is a pregnant woman’s dream. Jalapeños, chicken and cheesy baked goodness in a skillet. YES. This mac & cheese doesn’t mess around. I don’t have a top mac & cheese list, but if I did, this baby would be on it. Seriously. Go eat this y’all.
My healthy-eating husband ordered the tuna and cantaloupe ceviche with some encouragement from me. So I can’t eat raw stuff. That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t enjoy. Look at the size of those chunks of tuna!
This dish was spicy-sweet and good, if not a big odd in its composure. BBQ-style chicken served with a tasty bean sprout-arugula-avocado salad along with seasoned, crispy pita and tzaziki sauce. Everything was tasty, but I’m not sure it all went together. Either way, the chicken was very juicy.
Deciding to drink his dessert, the Spicy Chocolate Aphrodisiac was the cocktail-of-choice for my Food Bastard. This baby combined cocoa tequila, jalapeño, crème de cocoa and lime.
But I was focused on one thing and one thing only: the salted caramel pudding pictured above. Black sea salt and fresh whipped cream topped off this delicious little treat. Turns out, according to our server, this started out as a chef’s special, but the staff begged him to make it a regular menu item. Voila. Don’t skip dessert at DISH, you guys.
