I usually only post about stuff I write for The Observer, but in this case, it’s important to note possibly the most important issue of the year, the annual Best of Dallas issue.
I think my favorite part about this issue is the Readers’ Choice awards, where in contrast to DMag’s awards, The Observer’s readers get it right. I read all of the restaurant-focused choices made by reader vote, and didn’t wince even ONCE. So congratulations, Dallas, specifically the readers and voters of the DO’s Best of Dallas, you are awesome.
And now for some special foodbitch shoutouts. I agree with these big time.
Readers’ Choice: Smoke for Best Sunday Brunch.
Coffee House Café’s Best Suburban Coffee Shop and Readers’ Choice for Best New Restaurant.
The Grape’s Best Hangover Cure and Best Happy Hour Now That You’re An Adult.
Goodfriend/Good2Go Taco’s Feta Slaw for Best Coleslaw.
Meddlesome Moth for Best Beer Bar.
Meso Maya for Best Margarita.
Mesa for Best Mom and Pop Restaurant.
Sissy’s for Best Fried Chicken.
Pecan Lodge for Best Barbecue.
Jason Maddy of Oak for Best Chef.
And not at all surprisingly, Oak for Best New Restaurant.
