Weaving tragedy with triumph over my stomach, I happily and hungrily attended a well-attended event Sunday night benefitting the family of Lt. Shannon Stone, the fireman and father who died after falling from the stands at a Texas Rangers ballgame. I personally love how instead of being a downer type of night, this event seemingly celebrated his life with food, friends, strangers and more food. I’d hope one day people celebrate me like this. (Not soon, though, K? I know I ate a lot of meat that night, but I’m still kickin’.)

Anyway, on to the food!

I met a lot of awesome folks on that warm Sunday night, and the spirit of the thing was just feel-good. From the sweet tea vodka drinks, to the brisket-y baked beans from the folks at Lockhart Smokehouse, to the Pecan Lodge burnt ends covered in chef Brian Luscher’s homemade pepper sauce, to the Ain’t No Mo Butter Cakes, and finally to the little bites of heaven also known as Oh* Brownie, it was a great time and I left full and happily meat-sweating all the way home.
