Today was Free Shitty Coffee Day at 7-Eleven! Until 10 am, then lucky you, you missed it. Yes, I bought a cup because A) I wanted to show my USA! USA! Team Obama! spirit, and B) I’m a sucker for marketing campaigns. Plus, back in 2004 I wrote the actual headline for the actual full-page print ad that went into USA Today for the campaign. Nostalgia. So, I had more than a few reasons to drink shitty coffee this morning. Three hazelnut creamers and two packets of Splenda later, it’s…drinkable.
But I do NOT (other than to participate in the pretty cool marketing campaign — they actually predict the actual outcome of the general election pretty closely each election year) approve of the consumption of shitty coffee. So that’s why I’m happy to announce that The Pearl Cup, makers of decidedly NON-shitty coffee, will be doing a free coffee event of their own, on National Coffee Day, which just so happens to be tomorrow.
