Walking into Pokey O’s (which has been around for seven years! Go Pokey!), I was more than psyched to try the Ice Cream Taco, the newest personalized creation at the cookies-and-ice-cream empire. I was in for a treat. Not since Taco Bueno introduced the Choco Taco have I been this excited about a dessert-based taco.
Here’s how the Ice Cream Taco process works. You can buy pre-made creations (if you’re worried you might screw this up — don’t worry, you can’t), at 3/$10. Or for $3.49 each, you can build your own. It goes something like this:
First you pick your waffle cone. Regular or chocolate (which reportedly tastes like Cocoa Puffs). I went with regular.
Next, you choose your ice cream flavor(s). I chose 11-year-old me’s two favorite Blue Bell flavors: mint chocolate chip and cookies ‘n cream.
Then, you choose your housemade shell (like the Magic Shell stuff you had as a kid, only better). Dark chocolate was my choice.
Lastly, you choose a topping from the list pictured above. I went with Oreos because more Oreos = more better.
Here’s the result. 11-year-0ld me and today’s me were in heaven.
My friend @ohheydallas designed a pretty, pretty taco. This one had blueberry cobbler and cookie dough ice creams, white chocolate shell and rainbow sprinkles.

NOTE: This tasting today was a media event. There were delicious snacks, cute decorations and my ice cream taco was free. Just so you know.
