The rumors are true, Adele.
Sissy’s Southern Kitchen, Lisa Garza’s purveyor of crave-worthy fried chicken and damn good deviled eggs, is adding lunch service to their offerings, starting Tuesday, September 18. Starting that Tuesday, they’ll be open Monday-Saturday offering lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
From the release: “Expect menu staples such as Sissy’s fried chicken, Gulf shrimp and grits, and roasted redfish with sweet corn maque choux mixed in with a few newcomers. Entrée salads include pickled Gulf shrimp over spinach, lump crab cake with fine herb salad and shallot vinaigrette, and herb poached red snapper atop mixed greens with preserved lemon vinaigrette. The menu will also feature sandwiches like a New Orleans-style muffaletta, crispy Texas catfish or oyster po’ boy, and chicken fried flat iron steak sandwich. The menu rounds out with sides such as mac and cheese, oven roasted collard greens, Texas caviar field pea salad, cream biscuits and jalapeno cornbread.”
I’m betting we’ll find a whole slew of delicious things to love, for lunch, at Sissy’s.
UPDATE: Shortly after this was posted we learned that Jeffery Hobbs, the chef at Sissy’s, will be leaving “to pursue his own interests.” Sad. I’ll miss that cobbler. Luckily, his sous chef Chris Ostlund has been learning the ropes under him and will be promoted to chef in his absence. Here’s hoping it all comes out allright. Good luck, Hobbs!
