Matt Tobin and Josh Yingling of Goodfriend (and Blind Butcher) have unleashed a new menu upon us. These guys are smart. Know how I know? Because they opened up an awesome bar/restaurant in East Dallas before anyone else was doing something that awesome. And they’ve been rewarded. Full house, waits, and great times every time I’ve ever been there. Good job guys. Anyway, they are starting out year three of Goodfriend with a newly updated menu. So take a look at the new menu at Goodfriend, and then I’ll go over some highlights.
It’s so big I had to chop it into a couple of pieces for you (that’s what she said?):
Here’s what sounds effing delicious:
The State Fair. All-beef + Franconia batter. Duh.
The Cheese Burger. Formerly known as the PLOT. Maybe folks were confused by the acronym? Whatever. It’s so, so good.
BBQ Grilled Cheese. Because brisket.
German dog. All-beef + pretzel bun. Sold.
What’s missing? The huge chicken sandwich that featured a waffle batter-fried chicken breast the size of your shoe. Why, Matt and Josh. Why?!
I will drown my sorrows in: New cocktails!
Specifically, the Glasgow Gangster, featuring Vida Mezcal, JW Black, agave nectar, orange bitters, and grapefruit juice.
I can’t wait to eat your whole new menu, chef Salome. Long live East Dallas!
